Boris Akunin called his novel «Aristonomy» «the first serious novel in his life.» He worked on «Aristonomy» for several years and, by his own admission, he was helped by the political events that took place in Russia in late 2011 and early 2012.
A fragment from the LiveJournal of Boris Akunin, dedicated to the new novel «ARISTONOMY»: All December and almost all of January I was in a creative daze. Political events completely knocked me out of my working rut. I put off the Fandorin novel because the mood had changed radically. After a while, I felt that I was drawn to take up a book that I had been writing in fragments for several years. This is a «serious» novel, the first in my life. At one time he brought it to the final — and postponed it for a long time. Everything seemed to be there, but something important was missing. Like a «wax person»: just like a living person, only he does not breathe and does not walk.
In March, I finally finished this novel. In some unclear way, the events in Russia gave the book the necessary impetus. The novel is called «Aristonomy» (what it is, you will find out when you read it).
The novel is set in Russia during the revolution and civil war. As in all other works of the author, a fascinating and exciting plot awaits you, but nevertheless, this time, the spiritual searches of the heroes, their reflections on the role of the intelligentsia in the fate of Russia, on revolution and love will come to the fore.
Performed by People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Klyukvin.
