The sailors of the yacht «Duncan», owned by Lord Edward Glenarvan, caught a hammerfish in the waters of Scotland, inside which was a bottle with a cryptic letter for help. The water greatly spoiled the documents, but it was possible to make out that Captain Grant’s ship had crashed at 37 degrees south latitude. Longitude, as well as the land itself, to which the victims of the shipwreck got out, could not be determined.

Lord Glenarvan sets up a rescue expedition in search of Harry Grant and, together with the captain’s children, sets off on a voyage around the world along the 37th parallel. The heroes will have to cross three oceans, visit South America, Australia and New Zealand, meet wild animals and cannibals, pirates and escaped convicts and go through many other dangerous adventures …
