The Goncourt Prize-winning Goncourt Prize-winning detective thriller is the worldwide best-selling The Perfect Nanny by Leila Slimani. But at the same time, it is also a history of complex human relations written off from life itself, where love, poisoned by jealousy, turns into hatred. The book is based on terrible real events that happened in an American family.
A young married couple, Paul, a music producer, and Miriam, an aspiring lawyer, hire a nanny for the children, a middle-aged widow who has a separate adult daughter. Paul and Miriam are pleasantly surprised by how much Louise suited them: she won the hearts of children, inventing new and exciting games, and became a cook and housekeeper. The apartment has never been so clean and there is so much delicious food on the table. But over time, the couple discover that they have become addicted to their ideal nanny, who turns out to be not so ideal …
