Leo Tolstoy’s story «Prisoner of the Caucasus» was first published in 1872 in the magazine «Zarya». The plot of the plot is partially based on real events that happened to Tolstoy during his service in the Caucasus. Today it is one of the most popular works of the writer included in the school literature curriculum.
