Tatiana de Rhone is an English-French writer, screenwriter, journalist and literary critic, whose works have been translated into many languages of the world and published in millions of copies. But her loudest success is associated with the novel «Sarah’s Key» and the film of the same name with Christine Scott-Thomas in the title role, which went around the world screens.
Paris, July 1942: Sarah Starzinski is ten years old. She lives with her parents and younger brother in the Marais quarter. Mother sews a yellow star on her coat, which means curse and death. The police come after them at night. In a panic, Sarah locks her younger brother in a closet, promising to return soon.
Paris, May 2002: Julia Jarmond, an American journalist who married a Frenchman, is tasked with writing about another anniversary of the round-up of Jews gathered by the Nazis at the Vel d’Ives stadium. And now her path intersects with the story of Sarah, a girl who until her death kept a mysterious key, and this will forever change Julia’s life. Where will the debt of memory lead to this young woman who unintentionally stirred up the dark pages of the Nazi occupation?
The novel «Sarah’s Key» is published in a new translation.
