Nice French comedy. The main character, Julie Tournelle, lives in a small town, works in a bank, communicates with her friends, and calls up with her parents on Saturdays. An ordinary life, until a mysterious tenant with an unusual name appears in her house. Despite all her efforts, Julie never gets to see him. And she feels that she must, she simply must find out who he is. Going crazy with curiosity, Julie goes to incredible tricks to make their meeting take place. A meeting that will change her life forever …
In the beginning, the book impresses with its French thoroughness. And then — he carries away adventures, which from time to time become crazier and more extreme. And at the end it is already difficult to recognize the Julie who was at the beginning. At the same time, there are no contradictions in the character of the hero. She just acted in the given circumstances.
Applause to the translator, and to the author, of course. When a book is written in this style — in fact, it can be about anything, it is still fun to read. And then there’s love, adventure, adventure. In a word, do not come off.
Beautiful language, humor, with a touch of philosophy and sometimes notes of sadness. Funny characters and an intriguing plot, it is impossible to tear yourself away, I read it with gusto, I recommend it to everyone, you will not regret it!
I give the book five stars out of five for helping to relax and get rid of unnecessary thoughts from my head. Very nice, very funny story.
The most important thing that I liked was the sense of humor. Rarely is humor at a decent level in a book. Here, perhaps, we still need to shake hands with the translators. Well done!
It just so happened that this book practically met all my expectations (and I just wanted to take a break from the classics, eternal and difficult problems, and read something light, funny and not entirely serious). This novel is not only about love, it has a little bit of everything — real friendship, relationships with parents and old people, politeness and rudeness, the ability to take responsibility and change your life, not be afraid to take risks, and finally — to live in the present, now.
And it seems like an hour ago you were frowning and doing Very Important Things, but now you are sitting in your pajamas with dancing penguins and smiling like a person with mental disabilities. And in my heart it is good …
