Charles Bukowski is one of the greatest American writers of the twentieth century, a representative of the so-called «dirty realism». Despite the sometimes shocking naturalism, his texts are full of lyricism, even a kind of sentimentality.
Bukowski wrote his first novel «Post Office», dedicated to his work in the aforementioned institution and numerous tragicomic escapades from the life of a simple Californian postman at the age of 50. It took twenty nights, twenty pints of whiskey, thirty-five cans of beer, and eighty cigars.
