“Woe, woe to you, the great city of Babylon, the mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come ”(Rt. 18:10). These words of the Holy Book should have been well known by the pupil of the Theological Seminary, little Soso Dzhugashvili, who entered world history under the name of Stalin.
Every day, the world’s largest country woke up with his name on its lips. Every day his name sounded on the radio, thundered in songs, looked from the pages of all newspapers. This name, as the greatest award, was given to factories, collective farms, streets and cities. With his name soldiers went to death. Stalingrad bled to death during the war, the earth turned into a scab filled with shells, but the city that bore his name was not surrendered to the enemy. During the political trials arranged by him, the victims, dying, praised his name. And in the camps, where millions of those driven behind barbed wire were turning back rivers, building cities beyond the Arctic Circle and dying by hundreds of thousands — they did all this under his portraits.
The story of a man who, even after his death, could not leave without blood: thousands of crushed people who came to say goodbye to «God» in the Hall of Columns, joined the millions that he destroyed, is waiting for you in the audiobook «Stalin. Life and death».
