Green Light, Matthew McConaughey, is the only autobiographical book in my book collection, why? I am very impressed with Matthew as an actor, I enjoy watching his romantic comedies: “Ghosts of Ex-Girlfriends” – watched to tears, “How to get rid of a guy in 10 days” – top, “Fool’s Gold” … after reading the book, I realized why I like these comedies so much, it’s just that Matthew is this character, this simple, groovy and sassy guy in life. The actor spent his youth on the road, partying, smoking pot, traveling and having affairs of love, that’s why he gets along so well and fits the roles in youth comedies. But time passes, Matthew thinks about who to be, what to leave behind and makes a difficult choice – to “leave his comfort zone,” to stop acting in light, “empty” comedies and become an interesting, great actor. . he is supported by his wife, friends and …. coolly changes his style, changes roles… and then “the target attracts an arrow”)))… the movies “True Detective”, “Interstellar”, “Sea of Temptation”, “Mud”, “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Gentlemen”, such different and perfectly played characters, diverse roles… where did the empty-headed handsome man go?)) The book is very positive, emotionally charged, Matthew isn’t afraid to look funny, ridiculous or incomprehensible….just look at the mention of his “wet dream” ))))) – that’s something to describe…Yet his philosophy of life is very correct and working…I won’t hide the philosophical thoughts and notes in the margin, I was not very interesting, but life examples, how he came to this – fascinating, it was like listening to an old friend’s stories… I recommend you read it)
A fascinating journey through the life of a famous actor I, to be honest, read only fiction in general. But being a keen movie buff, I was tempted to pick up this autobiographical history, written by McConaughey himself. And truth be told, after reading it I was satisfied. As you can see from the description of the book, Matthew spent 35 years recording all the most exciting moments of his life, his own thoughts, lessons he learned, and the actual result was this book. Believe me, it is so interesting and fascinatingly written that you will feel the whole spectrum of emotions. McConaghy unvarnishedly shares stories from his childhood. For example, describing his father, he describes him as a difficult, tough and sometimes evil person. But at the same time, his father could be so heartfelt, that one time he tried to save his father from death by breathing intricately. And there are many such great stories. There’s also about Matthew’s studies in Australia, where he lived with a very different family. Of course, it’s also about his artistic path, sharing stories about his first film roles and his fame, which he lost and renewed in a monastery while travelling with a dog in a van. Enough attention is given in the book to how his personality was shaped by his life principles. I would also like to add that the design of the book is very good. Very authentic, with snapshots of the road and the original notations. So, if you want to know who Matthew is behind the movie, you should turn your attention to this book.
