About the product The third volume of the «History of Middle-earth» gives us a unique opportunity to look at the creation of the mythology of Middle-earth through the prism of poetic transcriptions of two of the most significant plots of the Tolkien world: the legends of Turin and Lúthien. The first of the poems, the grandiose unpublished Song of the Children of Hurin, is dedicated to the tragedy of Turin Turambar. The second, heartfelt «Le o Leithian», the main source of the legend about Beren and Luthien in The Silmarillion, tells about the Campaign for the Silmarils and about the encounter with Morgoth in his underground fortress. The poems are accompanied by commentaries on the evolution of the history of the Ancients. The book also includes an interesting critique of Le o Leithian by C. S. Lewis, who read the poem in 1929.
